All About Me

An important part of this blog is me. My name is Katie and I've been on quite the fitness journey, definitely with ups and downs and highs and lows.

When I was younger, I played lots of team sports, most of which I wasn't that good at (softball, soccer, etc) However, I was a decent swimmer and stuck with that for awhile. Eventually, I found track and cross country my junior year of high school and fell into running. This love was cut short when I underwent knee surgery in the winter of my senior year of high school.

I left for college and spent the (nearly) four years at my alma mater Ohio University going to Ping for maybe 20 minutes on the elliptical and rounded out the day/night with cafeteria food, Pita Pit, and lots of parties and bars. Surprisingly, I gained weight.

I continued on a downward spiral for sometime, making easy choices for dinner (grilled cheese, fast food, pasta, etc) and limited working out. My pants kept getting tighter, the size kept going up, and my face was expanding. In 2008, I had a realization that I needed to start working out, I joined a gym, got a trainer, and over the course of the year I lost a lot of weight, in a healthy fashion!

Ever since then, I re-discovered running, ran a few half marathons, and also discovered spin due to a back injury. I now throw in some yoga for my workouts and barre classes. I tried my first BeachBody product in March 2014 (21 Day Fix) and found much success with it. I then purchased PiYo (which is one of my favorite programs) and have rounded things out with Cize.

I have always enjoyed helping people and by becoming a BeachBody Coach, it's giving me that opportunity to meet new people, help people, and share my love of working out. It's not puppies and rainbows. There are tough days. There are days that I don't want to workout and would prefer to sit on the couch. The coaches I work with motivate ME to workout and the accountability groups help me to keep focus.

Oh, I love coffee too!
